Sincere and heartfelt condolences to Di and her family for the loss of your Mum. She always had a ready smile for everyone which you couldn’t help but love. A special lady whose light will be missed by all who had the distinct pleasure to know her. Thinking of you all at this time. Tammy Ricketts
To Val's family we send you our condolences on the passing of a wonderful friend of my parents Joyce and Fred Clinton ex Nelson. Joyce, my mother still resides in Blenheim and is now 97. I still remember the times when Val and Angus used to come to our place in Kowhai Ave, Annesbrook, they played up with my parents something terrible and had so much fun together. This happened many times and also with other friends like Bob and Dulcie Davis and many other friends creating a lifetime of memories for them and as by-standers, us. I remember Val and Angus as a delightful couple, softly spoken, genuine, and it was such a good feeling knowing that that my parents were in good company, and boy, did they enjoy life where ever they went. To all of the Swadel family, friends and colleagues, we pass on our heart felt condolences on the loss of a very special Lady. Our memories are still sharp. With our love to you all. Gary and Kathryn Clinton, now permanent in Christchurch.

It has been an honour to have known Val and her dear family. Val had a deep love for her family and of course "Ted" I watched with admiration the determination of all the family to support Val to stay in her home for her remaining days. Val has provided some very special people to continue in this world, and I will be forever grateful for having had the opportunity to enhance my own life by meeting you all, thank you Val, rest in peace now, your journey lives on xx
