Chester Koangaumu Hemi, aged 86, passed away peacefully with his devoted wife of 60 years Elaine at his side on Thursday August 26, 2021. Loved and devoted dad of Carolin, Julia and Tim, Linda and Steve, Nicki and Adam. Adored grandad of Melissa, Stacey and Jacqui; Craig and Cherie; Katie and Josh; Daniel and Cameron and much loved Koko.
Due to current restrictions, Chester will be laid to rest at Te Hora Pā with immediate whānau and a memorial service will happen when restrictions allow.

Dear Elaine and family, It was with sadness that I read in today's paper of the death of Chester. I have many fond memories of him. Particularly at sporting events where he quietly took it all in while the rest of us had difficulty in containing our excitement. A real family man he will be sadly missed.
